As an active Girl Scout, you are always learning, sharing and having fun. What better way to continue the fun than with baking the delicious tasting Girl Scout cookies. Now girls can use their very own Girl Scouts Deluxe Cookie Oven to create special treats to eat and to share with friends.
Girls love being involved with Girl Scouts and now they can extend that special time in the way that they play. This toy oven is different from other toy ovens in that it’s an exclusive Girl Scouts labeled oven.
Because it’s created just for young kids, they can now have the excitement of learning how to bake cookies that taste just like the ones that are sold during the year. This oven is a toy, but it actually works.
It can pre-heat just like a real oven but the pre-heating time with this is pretty fast. It can be ready to take in a tray of cookies in only 5 minutes once the pre-heating is done and the temperature is right.
Kids can learn what they need to know to be able to properly mix the ingredients needed to make the treats. You can even use your own recipes if you don’t want to keep buying the GS cookie mix. They won’t be Girl Scout cookies, but they will still be cookies!
They’ll also learn how to give use measurements that are used in the baking. They can watch through the oven window while the treat bakes and the oven has a warming station for melting toppings.
Learning while baking is not only fun – it’s also educational. Plus, they’ll get to eat the lessons! The oven does come with some accessories that are used for baking the treats.
It comes with a baking pan that can be used to bake about a half dozen of the treats at one time. It also has a plastic pink spatula to use to lift the cookies off the baking pan to slide them onto a plate.
There’s a measuring tool that kids can use to be sure they get the right amount of ingredients. The oven comes with a bag of the Thin Mints mix (my favorite and tastes like the real thing) so they can get started baking right away.
Because they’ll want to use this oven to bake treats time and time again, you’ll want to make sure that you get other cookie baking packs. You can get some that are sold individually like the PB Sandwich flavor or you can get several in a bundle pack that includes the Caramel Coconut and more.
This is an electric toy, which means that the element in it can get hot enough to burn if kids aren’t careful. For that reason, the toy is recommended for kids who are 8 years old and older.
The price for this toy is $23.99. I have not yet seen any on sale but if Amazon lowers the price by at least 10 % you will see a Deal Alert at the bottom of this review.
There are lots of reviews and at the time of writing it rated 3.3 out of 5 stars.
About half the buyers gave this 4 or 5 stars and found the oven to be great fun but there are a substantial number of negative reviews and a surprisingly large number of 1 star reviews.
There seem to be four main issues:
The number and size of the cookies you get per pack is small – 6 small cookies (see photo above)
Either the mixing instructions are wrong or the syringe does not work as many users had to add a lot more water to get the dough the right consistency
The baking tray get stuck and will not come out.
The cost of the Girl Scout cookie mix is really quite high
I’m torn about recommending this one so I am not going to do so. Seems like too many problems for the price to me.
